Diversity and English as an additional Language

Celebrating cultures

At Tiny Steps Preschool we celebrate a range of different cultures and diversities within preschool. When your child starts you will be given a form to complete which highlights festivals and celebrations you enjoy at home. As you can see below our children enjoy exploring and taking part in special festivals from around the world!

We love to celebrate the differences within all our cultures at preschool, we are always excited to see pictures from home that highlight, culture, festival or family.

We use a list of words in children's home language to support them in settling in, we may need help with pronunciation and will also use visuals alongside to support the children's understanding.

Below is a great resource for families who may need interpretation for things like school applications.

The below link takes you to guidance for parents whose children have English as an additional language, they highlight how you can support your child by using the home language. The guides come in lots of additional languages.
